Disability Support Worker 

Overview

A disability support worker plays a pivotal role in delivering compassionate care, assistance, and support to individuals living with disabilities. Their objective is to empower individuals with disabilities, fostering increased independence, enhancing their overall quality of life, and promoting active engagement within their communities.

  • Physically able to carry out the duties required by the role. 
  • The ability to build and maintain rapport with participants. 
Responsible For
  • Assist clients with various household tasks, such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry, to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment. 
  • Helping with household chores, such as cooking, laundry and cleaning. 
  • Provide hands-on personal care based on individual client needs, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management. 
  • Foster meaningful connections with clients through active listening, companionship, and empathy, promoting mental and emotional well-being. 
  • Conduct regular assessments of clients' needs and progress, maintaining accurate records and promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor. 
  • Encourage and support clients in developing and maintaining their independence and self-confidence by offering guidance and assistance as needed. 
  • Always ensure the safety and well-being of clients, following established safety protocols and infection control measures. 
  • Maintain participant health records and documentation according to Insync Disability Services’ policies.

Educational Requirements
  • A certificate III or IV in individual support, or a diploma in community services is advantageous. 
  • Six months’ experience as support worker/coordinator. 
  • Passport (working rights) and Driving License. 
  • Working with Children Check and NDISWC. 
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Program  
  • Completion of Supporting People to Stay Infection Free module (Desirable). 
  • Must have own car (comprehensive car Insurance) 
  • Current Police check (or willing to get one)
